In partnership with Curtin University, this elective aims to develop the skills of leadership, collaboration and creativity. Based in the exciting setting of STEM challenges, students will explore and create possible solutions to authentic, real-world problems. A team of specialist teachers, focusing on inquiry-led teaching, will guide students through hands-on challenges and activities. This course introduces students to the various disciplines within engineering and applied science including a focus on robotic programming. Upon completion, students will be exposed to a wide range of exciting STEM career opportunities.

Students will create solutions to problems by:

  • Investigating and defining
  • Designing
  • Producing and implementing
  • Evaluating
  • Collaborating and managing

The following non-technical Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills will be explicitly taught through the course:

  • Self-Management: Organisational Skills – Plan short and long-term assignments; meets deadlines
  • Research: Information Literacy – Collect and analyse data to identify solutions and make informed decisions
  • Communication: Language Skills – Organise and depict information logically
