Year 3

Brad TyrrellMarch 21, 2018December 7, 2018

Year 3 marks the first year of NAPLAN testing for the boys at Scotch College. Although there is no formal training, the school does ensure that the boys are well-prepared for the expectations and skill acquisition required to complete the literacy and numeracy assessment programme. Year 3 also marks the first year of musical instruments being taught across the year level where all students are encouraged to join ensemble groups. The students enquire into six units of inquiry which are; ‘who we are’ in relation to culture and national identity, ‘how we express ourselves’ through creating and responding to art, ‘how the world works’ through scientific principles associated with classification of observable feature, ‘sharing the planet’ which enquires into equal opportunities, ‘where we are in time and place’ an investigation into shared rights and responsibilities, and ‘how we organise ourselves’ through production and distribution processes.
