Year 1

Tim BurrowsMarch 21, 2018December 7, 2018

In Year 1 the students move from focusing on four units of inquiry to six units of inquiry. The units run for approximately 6 weeks each and time is set aside for a literacy and numeracy focus on skills acquisition every day. The units inquire into, ‘who we are’ when looking at our relationships and well-being, ‘how we express ourselves’ through stories and emotions, ‘how the world works’ through a scientific look at our natural environment,  ‘sharing the planet’ which enquires into the features of animal species, ‘where we are in time and place’ an investigation of the relationship between homes and culture, and finally, ‘how we organise ourselves’ through the lens of how transport can enhance our community. All of this is learned through a transdisciplinary, guided-inquiry approach.
