Pre-primary

Tim BurrowsMarch 21, 2018November 30, 2018

Pre Primary is our first formal year of schooling where there is a change from a coeducational to a boys-only learning environment and the curriculum moves from the Early Years Learning Framework to the Western Australian Curriculum. There are four units of inquiry that run across the year, Two units run concurrently in Semester 1 and two units run concurrently in Semester 2. The Semester 1 units inquire into ‘who we are’ as family members and as part of the Scotch community and ‘how we express ourselves’ through language, bush school and art. Semester two focuses on ‘how the world works’ through a scientific look at our natural environment and ‘sharing the planet’ which enquires into how we share our resources with one another and other species. All of this is taught in a Reggio inspired environment and through an inquiry approach to learning.
