Students will explore a variety of ingredients and processes in the production of simple dishes. In particular, students will learn the foundations of food preparation, food preparation techniques, nutrition and healthy eating. The programme centres on the challenge of designing a healthy breakfast for their family at the weekend, where they have to competently demonstrate their new skills. Students will be encouraged to be creative problem solvers and develop their design skills through the MYP design cycle. There is a strong emphasis on working safely and hygienically. Students completing this course can choose any Year 9 Design subject.
