“The programme made me realise that something that seems small to you, like a five-minute chat,
can really make a difference in someone else’s life.”
All Year 10 boys complete a service learning programme as part of their timetabled activities. The College has developed long-term partnerships with over a dozen local service agencies and during three terms, Year 10 boys learn about their role in our society and the groups they support.
From a student’s viewpoint:
Overall I would recommend the community service program to all future years, because it gave me the ability to step into other people’s shoes and see how different people spend their Friday afternoons. The programme made me realise that something that seems small to you like a five-minute chat can really make a difference in someone else’s life. The program also taught me important life lessons such as, to stay away from drugs and help out when help is needed, furthermore the community service program was a great way to spend a Friday afternoon.
