Music

Tim BurrowsApril 2, 2019March 1, 2021

“A strange art – music – the most poetic and precise of all the arts, vague as a dream and precise as algebra.”

– Guy de Maupassant

Music is an expression of human experience and has a universal place in every culture across the globe and throughout history. Music has the capacity to engage, inspire and enrich, stimulating imaginative and innovative responses and fostering critical thinking and aesthetic understanding. Studying music provides the basis for significant lifelong engagement and enjoyment, and fosters understanding and respect for all music and music practices across different times, places, cultures and contexts.

Research indicates that the study of music promotes advanced development in core literacy and numeracy and accelerates academic achievement in other discipline areas. It’s no surprise that year on year, many of the top academic achievers at Scotch are musicians.

Our Music Programme offering is based upon three integrated areas, all of equal importance:

  • Music Curriculum (classroom based courses)
  • Music Tuition (individual music lessons)
  • Music Ensemble (bands, choirs, orchestras and other music groups)

Our students learn through performance, with their instruments in their hands and are guided, mentored and encouraged by an expert staff team.

We welcome your son as he joins what we colloquially refer to as the Scotch Music family.
