At this time, the Scotch Community would be aware of the Headmaster’s communication regarding decisions that have been taken by the College in response to the ongoing Coronavirus COVID-19 situation. The decisions taken are based upon criteria provided from the National Cabinet, Department of Education, Health Authorities and what we considered our role in ensuring social responsibility.
Many Performing Arts events have either been postponed or cancelled. We understand this development is hugely disappointing for our students, families and prospective audience members, but we must prioritise the safety and wellbeing of everyone in or associated with our community and follow the guidelines set down by government agencies. Where possible, some events may be rescheduled to occur at a later point in the year. Unfortunately, the logistical complications of some events mean that cancellation is the only option. Please visit the Upcoming Events page for detailed information.
Update as at Friday 15th May 2020
Further to our previous advice regarding co-curricular drama, music and pipe band rehearsals, I am pleased to provide an update for all Scotch families.
We have used the three week review period announced by the Premier to consider which aspects of our programmes would be able to operate and the various protocols that would need to be followed in order that we could safely recommence each activity. We now have a clear roadmap from the state government and are confident that we can begin slowly recommencing our co-curricular rehearsals.
From Monday 18th May, the following will resume:
- most music ensemble rehearsals, before and after school and those scheduled at lunch times
- all pipe band rehearsals, before school
- drama production rehearsals for We Will Rock You, but with a revised rehearsal schedule
We will continue to follow the advice provided by the Australian Health Protection Principal Committee (AHPPC) and have developed a set of protocols which staff and students will be required to follow closely. We ask for your support in reinforcing these through conversation with your sons. Refer overleaf for the detail on the set of protocols we have adopted.
It’s important to know that performances which were cancelled remain so for 2020. Performances which were postponed remain under review. All updates will be posted to this website.
Finally, we respectfully request that parents continue to adhere to the Headmaster’s directive not to enter the campus grounds. If you need to make contact with your son or need to speak to anyone at the College, please contact Scotch reception on 9383 6800 and a staff member will assist you further.
Should you require more information on any item in this communication, please contact the relevant person below:
