Visual Art
In Year 9 Visual Art, the focus for the course is mural art, which can be seen on many public buildings around Perth. You will have access to well known or emerging artists to be inspired to create an artwork that features a fusion of traditional and contemporary art forms. You will plan, design and produce art that may include elements of graphic art, typography, drawing, painting, stencil and spray painting. The final completed piece will be featured in the annual Inspirations Art Exhibition.
There are two assessment types in the Year 9 Visual Art course:
MAKING
You will develop skills and technical ability required for a chosen medium, genre or style applying processes required for the production of an artwork.
RESPONDING
You will use specialised subject-specific language to describe, interpret and develop considered responses to your own and professional artworks. You learn to support claims with evidence and justify reasoning about how art creates meaning.
