Music General

James AnthonyDecember 4, 2017March 14, 2018

This Rock Band course is designed for boys who have an interest in playing, recording and composing music and want to build on their skills in a contemporary/rock music setting. It is focused on rock music performance using electric guitar, bass guitar, keyboard and drum kit as the main practical instruments. The course consists of two units, Elements of Rock Performance and Global Influences on Modern Music. Class work typically includes rock band performance activities, songwriting, researching and analysing popular music, and using music technology to create and record music produced by the students. The course allows the boys to explore the role of music in modern society, both in Australian and multicultural settings. Boys do not need to have regular lessons on an instrument or take part in a music ensemble to do this course. Year 9 General Music (Rock Band) offers opportunities for the boys to get involved in the Jazz and Contemporary Music programme that the Music Department offers if they wish to extend their music studies further.
