Music General

James AnthonyDecember 4, 2017December 5, 2018

This rock band course is designed for boys who have had some experience playing and recording music and want to continue to build on their skills in a contemporary/rock music setting. The Year 10 Music – General (Rock Band) course offers opportunities for the boys to explore different musical styles in the context of their rock bands including funk, reggae, blues, roots and electronic music. The course allows the boys to explore the role music plays in both Australian and global communities. There is a focus on developing recording skills, learning how to promote original music, and running a successful music event. Boys who choose this course will be involved in recording a collective music album, producing cover artwork, and promoting the finished product. Boys do not need to have regular lessons on an instrument or take part in a music ensemble to do this course. It is recommended, but not essential, that boys who enrol in Year 10 Music – General (Rock Band) have completed Years 8 and 9 Music – General in previous years. The course offers opportunities for boys to get involved in the Jazz and Contemporary Music programmes that the Music Department offers if they wish to extend their Music studies further.

Year 10 General Music course forms the knowledge, understanding and skills required for those who may consider doing General Music (WACE) in Years 11 and 12.
