Language Acquisition French

Students wishing to continue into Senior (Year 11) courses in French, Indonesian and Spanish must remain in this course option: Language Acquisition.

Language Acquisition Course

The course will follow a traditional structure based around the topics of: Paris; Les Enfants du Millénaire/Technologie; Mon Avenir, Ton Avenir;  and En forme. It will prepare students with the vocabulary and structures to begin senior study.

Assessments are weighted equally, and there are five to six assessments over the year with the earliest two repeating to test improvement over the four terms.

Oral – 25%; Reading 25%; Listening 25%; Writing 25%

The Year 10 examination is in Autumn Term for Language Acquisition only.

Topics and content are developed with reference to the Western Australian Curriculum: Languages.

 

Semester Two Spanish Ab Initio commencement:

Note: Semester one in Language Acquisition must be completed before a student may elect to change to Spanish Ab Initio.

Having completed Semester 1 assessments in the Language Acquisition pathway, students may change their language from either Indonesian or French to begin Spanish Ab Initio (Beginners) study. This pathway is particularly aimed at those who will take the IB Diploma in Spanish in Year 11. Others may also choose to join from the Language Acquisition pathway.

Note: Students who have taken the altrenative Language & Culture pathway will not be able to make Senior language selections.
