Humanities and Social Sciences

Tilly SpadacciniFebruary 28, 2018September 16, 2020

In Year 7, Humanities and Social Sciences concepts are taught through an inquiry-based approach.

The unit of study, Human Ingenuity, allows students to develop an insight into a range of economic concepts such as how businesses respond to the demands of the consumer, the characteristics of an entrepreneur, and the nature of work and employment. The unit of study, Liveability, allows students to investigate how humans interact with and impact the natural and cultural world, specifically looking at environmental sustainability, government, democracy, freedom and justice. In the unit of study, Water: Earth’s Lifeblood, students examine the importance of water conservation and purification with a rapidly expanding global population. Students also research and evaluate various cost-effective technologies to satisfy the water needs of a growing global community. Finally, students investigate Ancient Greece, looking at how this empire has shaped modern societies and cultures today.
